Coldkeys.
Every professional I know keeps API keys and credentials somewhere unwise: a text file, a notes app, a message to themselves. Coldkeys is the small desktop application we built to end that habit. One master password encrypts everything on your own machine, and nothing ever touches a cloud.
Private by architecture, not by promise
The application makes no network connections. Your keys live in a single encrypted file on your computer, protected with the same widely reviewed cryptography that secures banking systems: scrypt key derivation and AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption. There is no account, no sync, no telemetry, and no password recovery. If that last point sounds severe, it is the entire point.
- Store complete credentials: an access key and its secret together, revealed and copied independently
- The clipboard clears itself thirty seconds after you copy a secret
- The vault locks after five minutes idle and every time you close the application
- One portable, documented, tamper-evident file. Back it up anywhere; it is unreadable without your master password
- Licences are verified inside the application, offline, with public-key cryptography
